Student of Government Science Secondary School Kagara in Niger state had their hostel abducted by gunmen at around 2am on Wednesday, February 17 2021.
According to residents,the men stormed the school wearing military fatigues and at least 42 people, including students have been kidnaped by these unknown men. Whereas statements from the state government has it that , the group includes 27 students, three teachers,nine family members and one student known as Benjamin Habila died during the attack.
The chief press secretary Mary Noel Barje of Niger state’s Governor Abubakar Sani Bello disclosed that all boarding schools in the area has been closed and the military have also been dispatched to rescue those kidnapped from the school.
This latest incident has raised questions about the safety of schools in parts of northern Nigeria as this kidnapping comes two months after more than 300 students were kidnapped in a similar invasion at Government Science Secondary School Kankara, in Katsina, President Buhari’s home state.
