The Techiman Traditional Area cancels its annual Apoo festival that is meant for the purification of the people to rid them of social evil.
The festival duration lasts for one week which includes a variety of recreational cultural activity.
Due to the increasing number of active COVID-19 cases in the country and the subsequent ban placed on social gatherings by the President of Ghana, the traditional Council makes this decision.
The festival is now scheduled for March 25 to April 25, 2021.
Regardless of the fact that the festival has been cancelled, the Traditional Council insist that the “Adamu” which is a period when funeral observations are suspended will take place.
This they say will start from March 27 to April 25.
The traditional council used the opportunity to call on the people of the Techiman Traditional Area to adhere to the restrictions put in place to curb the virus.
