In a historic moment, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has arrived in Cape Coast for this year’s Fetu Afahye festival, strengthening ties between the Asante Kingdom and the people of Oguaa. Invited by Oguamanhene Kwesi Atta II, Otumfuo’s visit as the Special Guest of Honour is set to deepen the relationship between the two regions.
Marking a rare occasion where the Asantehene leaves his kingdom to attend a regional festival, his arrival was celebrated with a grand ceremony, attended by traditional leaders, government officials, and the people of Cape Coast. The Fetu Afahye festival is a significant cultural event that showcases the rich heritage of the Central Region, with vibrant traditional performances, a durbar of chiefs, and culinary displays.
During his stay, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will receive an honorary Doctorate Degree from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in recognition of his tremendous contributions to education and development in Ghana. He is also expected to visit Agona Nyaakrom, further interacting with the people of the Central Region and discussing their aspirations.
