“Atik Mohammed Calls Out Akufo-Addo: ‘Galamsey Crisis Needs Urgent Action!

Atik Mohammed

Atik Mohammed has taken a strong stance against President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his administration over their handling of the illegal mining crisis, known as ‘galamsey.’ This mining scourge is wreaking havoc on the lives of Ghanaians, with water bodies and the environment in grave danger, especially in affected mining communities.

During his appearance on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ show, Atik reiterated his demand for an outright ban on small-scale mining to effectively tackle the galamsey threat. He pointed out that there’s little distinction between small-scale mining and galamsey, asserting that those engaged in one often participate in the other.

Atik expressed deep frustration with the President, stating, “It is clear that Akufo-Addo’s government is not truly committed to combating galamsey. The actions of the President and his ministers show a lack of urgency. While they may claim to have future plans, it’s evident they are not taking immediate action to stop this crisis.”
