Black Stars remains winless in 3 matches as they draw against Sudan

Ghana’s quest to revive their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign hit a setback as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10. Despite dominating the match and creating several chances, the Black Stars struggled to find the back of the net, leaving them winless after three games.

Head coach Otto Addo fielded a strong lineup, with Mohammed Kudus stepping in as captain in the absence of Thomas Partey. Defenders Alexander Djiku and Gideon Mensah returned to the starting XI, while Ibrahim Sulemana made his first start for the national team. The attack was spearheaded by Ernest Nuamah, Jordan Ayew, and Antoine Semenyo, but Ghana’s inability to finish proved costly.

Ghana nearly took the lead early on when Alexander Djiku came close to scoring, but his effort missed the target. The Black Stars continued to create chances throughout the first half but failed to convert, leaving the score 0-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Ghana played some of their best football since Addo’s return as coach. Semenyo, Kudus, and substitute Inaki Williams all came close to breaking the deadlock, but Sudan’s goalkeeper was up to the task, making crucial saves to deny the hosts.

The draw leaves Ghana with just two points from three games in Group F, putting their AFCON qualification hopes in jeopardy. The Black Stars will now turn their focus to the return fixture against Sudan in Libya, knowing that a win is essential to keep their qualification chances alive.
