The MTN organization helps facilitate the Covid-19 vaccines to Africa. Out of 7 million, 165,000 doses are presently in Ghana, according to the South African Telecom Company. It was delivered at the Kotoka International Airport.
Moreover, the organization donates $25 million to assist the African Union’s vaccination programme. This programme is aimed at reaching the health workers of its member states.
Overall, MTN made a huge contribution towards Africa’s immunisation project. Its monetary value amounts to GHC 136 million at the end of 2020. It took form in the distribution of more than 80,000 face masks to 30 hospitals, PPE to high schools and 29 hospital, GHC 5 million to the Noguchi Memorial Institute, etc. The Minister of Health, Mr. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu greatly appreciated the initial support MTN gave, the organization revealed.
Agyeman-Manu expressed his conciliation upon recieving the first dose of the vaccine, AstraZeneca. It arrived on Sunday. Vaccination in the continent actively begun recently due to early suppliers from the advanced countries.
Africa‘s vaccination processes largely depend on free doses from the global COVAX vaccine-sharing facility. The facility targets about 20% of the population to endow before 2022.
MTN has played a big role in reducing the negative impact of the pandemic. Mr. Serlorm Adadevoh, the CEO of the foundation says,

It appeals to other financially-able institutions to embark on similar initiatives. The initiatives or projects will help reduce the spread of the disease.
