Disqualified presidential candidate, Samuel Apea-Danquah, popularly known as “Yellow Ghana,” has filed a lawsuit against the Electoral Commission (EC) following his disqualification from the upcoming presidential elections in Ghana.
Apea-Danquah was among the 11 candidates who were disqualified by the EC due to irregularities in their nomination forms.
In a motion filed on Thursday, which was obtained by Citi News, Samuel Apea-Danquah is seeking a court order to overturn the EC’s decision of his disqualification.
He is also seeking an order from the court to compel the EC to accept his nomination to contest as a valid presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections.
Bernard Anbataayela Mornah, the flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), has also filed a lawsuit against the Electoral Commission (EC) following his disqualification from the presidential race.
Kofi Asamoah-Siaw, the flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), has also taken legal action against the EC, challenging the same disqualification.
The elections are scheduled for December 7, and the law suits could be a hindrance to slow down the process should it take a long time for hearings.
