Eastern Region: MP appears only during electioneering seasons; FANPA Cries out

Fanteakwa Positive Action Group (FANPA), a pressure group in Fanteakwa North district in the Eastern Region has disclosed that the Member of Parliament for Fanteakwa North Constituency, Hon. Kwabena Amankwa Asiamah is not visible to his constituents.

According to FANPA, the lawmaker is found present only during electioneering seasons on campaign platforms in the constituency.

The pressure group affirmed its aim to fight for Fanteakwa North Constituency especially Begoro and its environs to receive its fair share of the national cake as the lawmaker has a wide range of duties to perform in his Constituency.

Alex Amfo-Boakye, the Executive Member and Financial Controller of FANPA advised the lawmaker to make himself available in the constituency for the constitutes to address the issues of their concerns.

Mr Amfo-Boakye added that the MP represents all the people of Fanteakwa North not a few members of his political party, NPP.

The Financial Controller of FANPA further suggested that the lawmaker who doubles to be the (Head of the Education Committee In Parliament) must engage the various stakeholders on how to revive the failing educational system by helping to improve the performance of the students in the constituency to take off the unbearable shame of being last in 2022 BECE Eastern Regional Ranking out of 33 Districts.

He shared with Newstodaygh that, the MP must be visible in the constituency and to listen to the plight of his people and subsequently report the challenges of his constituents to Parliament for needed actions to be taken.

He said the lawmaker must seek to address concerns, issues, questions and ideas raised by the people he represents in Parliament, adding that the MP must have an office within the constituency to enable constituents to report directly to his office.

Mr Amfo-Boakye debunked rumours circulating that FANPA is an affiliated political group, indicating it is a non-partisan registered pressure group with memberships from home and abroad championing a course to ensure that duty bearers within the Constituency perform their tasks as expected of them.
