Five dead in Mogadishu hotel after car bomb attack



News reaching newtodaygh has it that, Five individuals and four attackers die in an attack.

According to the Somali police, they died at a hotel in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Sunday. The attack started on Sunday afternoon 5 p.m. local time (9 a.m. ET).

In a press conference early on Monday, the police spokesperson Sadik Aden Ali stated that the attack left 10 other civilians injured. He added that,the Somali security forces battled militants for eight hours.

A car bombed the gate of the hotel frequented by government officials and politicians.

The police also noted that, retired veteran military officer, General Mohamed Nur Galaal was part of the people killed in the attack.
General Mohamed Nur Galaal had once served as country’s defense minister in 1991 .

However,  other civilians were rescued by the security forces.

The Somali President, Mohamed Farmaajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble have both come out to condemned the attack and have also sent their condolences to those who have lost their loved ones.

“My heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of the heinous terror attack in Hotel Afrik including Gen Mohamed Nur Galal who served his country with valor for over 50 years,” Roble said via Twitter.
