Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes was all-out with the decision to send off his team-mate David Luiz in the Gunners’ dramatic 2-1 defeat to Wolves on Tuesday.

Arsenals were 1-0 up as half-time approached thanks to a goal from Nicolas Pepe, but the game turned on its head just before the break.

With Wolves striker Willian Jose through on goal, the 29-year-old went down after deceptive contact from Luiz and referee Craig Pawson awarded a penalty and sent the defender off. Ruben Neves converted the spot-kick to level things up before Joao Moutinho fired Wolves in front early on in the second half.

Speaking after the game, Arteta said: “It was a big decision that changed the game and if they can justify that they got it right then I will hold up my hands and apologize. “But I’ve seen the replay 10 times now and I’m sitting here and I still can’t see any contact.

I would like to see if VAR has got a different angle and has seen something I can’t see. “I’m watching it expecting to see something but I can’t. “Of course it changed the game. We’ve had to play half the game without David. We dominated the first half and could have been three or four goals up.
