Retired Colonel Festus Aboagye, a security analyst has called on authorities to stop using the military as a bodyguard for important personalities.

Col. Aboagye was speaking to TV3 on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 in relation to the military protection given to Jean Mensa, the EC Chairperson. He said Ghana is not a State of emergency where military will protect state officials.

“Even when security has to be provided to some VVIPs, it is not even Minister. Maybe the head of state or vice but only in a situation where there’s civil war or conflict in some parts of the country.

“EC cannot even be protected by the military unless there is an executive order. Even that, it must be in a state of emergency” he said.
