Heavy traffic on the Legon underpass as gory accident claims one life, injures several others.
Five (5) vehicles were involved in a very serious accident which occurred at the University of Ghana underpass on the Adenta-Accra highway around 3.45pm this evening during rush hour.
One person is reported to have died on the spot and several others sustained various degrees of injuries in the accident and were rushed to the University Hospital for immediate treatment.
According to eyewitness reports gathered at the scene of the accident, one of the cars coming from the Adenta-Accra stretch suddenly burst a tyre thus forcing it to run across the divide and into the opposite lane and in the process hitting another car head on. Eye witnesses also confirmed 3 other cars were involved as they tried to avoid the collision.
The situation caused very heavy vehicular traffic on the road and caused hundreds of onlookers to gather around the scene to watch what had happened.
The Police and Fire Service personnel from the Legon divisional command and campus rushed to the scene to help control vehicular traffic that had built up as a result of the accident.
A tow truck was on the scene to move the accidented cars away to ensure the free flow of traffic as this happened during the evening rush hour.
