John Mahama files application to bring to halt Supreme Court election petition


Lawyers of former president John Dramani Mahama have filed a new application today 21st January 2021 asking the court to hold on with all proceedings relating to the case till they determine their review application.

On Wednesday 20th January 2021 the court asked Ex-president Mahama’s team to files its witness statements by the close of the day on Thursday.

However, the Lead Counsel for the petitioner, Tsatsu Tsikata informed the court they had filed an application urging the court to reconsider its early decision that turned down a request to subject the EC Chairperson to 12 questions and are asking the court to stop the progress of all proceedings relating to the case till it determines their review application.

They reminded the court that their request for the Electoral Commission to admit certain facts has not been fulfilled. This they clarify is needed to finalize the witness statements.

Meanwhile, the supreme court of Ghana scheduled the hearing of the election petition to next week Tuesday 26th January 2021.
