Ghana Premier League legend Charles Taylor dropped a bold take, claiming that Asante Kotoko is a bigger sporting brand than the national team, the Black Stars.
According to Taylor, Kotoko players are more fit because they’re in action almost every weekend, unlike the Black Stars, who play less frequently. This regular game time, he argues, gives Kotoko’s squad an edge in fitness and performance.

Even though Ghana’s CHAN (African Nations Championship) results have been underwhelming, Taylor believes the domestic league is packed with talent that could elevate the Black Stars. He also slammed the lack of local players on the national team, saying it weakens the squad by limiting competition.
“If Justice Blay isn’t good enough for the Black Stars, then he shouldn’t be playing for Kotoko. Kotoko is bigger than the Black Stars,” he told Angel TV. Taylor insists that adding more local players would push foreign-based stars to level up.
