President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Friday January 29, appointed Rear Admiral Seth Amoama to act as the new Cheif of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana armed forces.
He took over from Lt. Gen. O.B. Akwa who’s appointment came to an end Friday, February 5, 2021 at a colourful parade and handing-over ceremony held at Burma Camp after 4 and half years tour of duty.
He therefore retires at the age of 65 making him the oldest CDS to serve in the Ghana Armed Forces.
It will be recalled that Lt. Gen. Akwa’s appointment as CDS was extended by 6 months in June 2020 until February 2021 by the President.
Rear Admiral Seth Amoama until his new appointment was the Chief of Naval Staff at the General Headquarters of the Ghana armed forces.
He was handed the Staff of Office by the outgoing CDS who was then pulled out of office in a military vehicle by officers and men at the general headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces in Burma Camp.
