We Give You 3 Days To Retract And Apologize Or Else Muslim Groups
Running Mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh,is in hot water as the Association of Liberal Muslims and the Coalition of Concerned Muslims of Ghana have given him three days to retract his statements and apologize for claiming that Imams and Mallams were contracted to teach Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) in basic school students.
The running mate spoke against the NDC at a campaign event in Kumasi-Bantama, he particularly spoke against Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa, of including CSE in the school curriculum.
He stated boldly that the NDC had developed a curriculum that involved teaching children inappropriate content, asserting that they took Pastors and Imams to communities to instruct teachers on how to discuss same-sex relationships.
In a press conference, the Muslim groups demanded that Dr. MATHEW Opoku Prempeh either name the supposed contracted Mallams and Imams or apologize and retract his statements within three days.
A spokesperson for the groups stressed that the claims do not align with Islamic teachings, stating, “The issue Napo is talking about, talking about it, and practicing it does not align with Islamic worship and teachings, we are here today in the name of all Muslims and begging Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh that he should name the mallams and Imams that were given the contract to the public if their names are not there, he should retract his statement and also apologies to the Muslim communities within the country.”
The groups warned that if their demands are not met, they would take further action, adding, “We are giving him a three-day ultimatum to retract and apologize otherwise we will use a different way.” They also appealed to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to intervene and ensure his running mate does the right thing.
