Otto Addo Reflects on Angola Defeat, Aims for Strong Comeback Against Niger

Ghana coach Otto Addo has admitted his team could have performed better in their 1-0 defeat to Angola, despite challenging conditions at the Baba Yara Stadium. The Black Stars were aiming for a strong start in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers but fell short, with a late goal from Felicio Joao Milson in injury time breaking Ghana’s 24-year unbeaten run at the venue.

“I don’t want to blame the pitch, even though it wasn’t in good condition. We’ve played on the same pitch and won before, like against the Central African Republic. We simply need to improve,” Addo stated.

Despite the setback, the coach expressed confidence in his team’s ability to bounce back and secure qualification. “The second half gives me confidence. It’s still in our hands, and we have the chance to face all the teams in the group,” he said.

The Black Stars now shift focus to their next match against Niger on Monday in Morocco, aiming to recover from their disappointing performance in Kumasi and get their AFCON campaign back on track.
