President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has once again taken aim at former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing him of leaving no significant legacy during his tenure.
Speaking at a community engagement in the Northern Region as part of his ongoing tour, President Akufo-Addo compared Mahama’s presidency unfavorably to those of former leaders Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufuor. According to Akufo-Addo, while Rawlings is remembered for instituting District Assemblies and Kufuor for launching the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Mahama’s time in office is synonymous with the severe power crisis, popularly known as “dumsor,” which caused widespread disruptions to businesses and households across Ghana.

Akufo-Addo questioned why Mahama is seeking re-election, given the economic challenges and instability his government left behind. He warned that granting Mahama another term could lead to further difficulties and slow Ghana’s development.
As he urged Ghanaians to reject Mahama in the upcoming general elections, President Akufo-Addo emphasized that the country must continue on a path of progress and avoid repeating past mistakes. He concluded by reaffirming his administration’s achievements, particularly the introduction of Free Senior High School (SHS), as a lasting contribution to the nation’s future.
