President Akufo-Addo will be the first to take the COVID-19 jab.

The Presidential advisor on health Dr. Nsiah Asare has disclosed in an exclusive interview aired on TV3 and monitored by, that President Nana

Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo will be the first person to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

He disclosed this information as Ghana received it’s first consignment of the AstraZeneca and Sputnik-V Covid vaccines earlier this week.

But even before the arrival of the vaccines, a section of Ghanaians interviewed on some news networks, had expressed mixed reactions on their willingness or otherwise on taking the jab. For some of them, the side effects had been their major concern.

But Dr. Nsiah Asare has said that such reactions are normal.

“President Akufo-Addo will be the first to be vaccinated. This is to assure Ghanaians that the vaccines are safe and any other reactions like headache, dizziness, or pains are all usual with every vaccination”, he assured.

Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare, also disclosed that government is introducing digital applications and call centers for pre-booking of Covid-19 vaccinations.

He said the move will help with monitoring and also encourage more Ghanaians to avail themselves for the vaccination, which comes at no cost to the individual.

According to him, it will be in the interest of the country, for people to avail themselves to be vaccinated.

“We encourage everyone to avail themselves for the vaccine. It is safe and we want other Ghanaians abroad to also put out their videos to encourage others in Ghana”.
