Saloon car collides with articulated truck on the Accra-Kumasi Highway

On the Teacher Mante New Town Community stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Highway a driver looses his life as he was trapped in his car when crushed with a truck.

According to reports,the driver driving the saloon car died after his car crashed head-on with an articulated truck on the stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Highway.

The car the victim was driving was a Chevrolet Prizm with the registration number of GR 2698-16.The car was moving towards the Kumasi junction but on reaching Teacher Mante, he overtook a number of vehicles ahead of him and ended up crashing head-on with a DAF XF articulated vehicle. The truck was fully loaded with bags of maize facing the opposite direction.
The articulated vehicle was with the registration number of AS 5607-16.

This resulted into the driver of the saloon car being trapped in a pool of blood behind his steering wheel of the mangled vehicle in an unconscious condition.

With the support of other road users, the police were able to untangle him and he was immediately rushed to the Nsawam government Hospital.
On arrival at the hospital he was pronounced dead and his body has been deposited at the same Hospital morgue for preservation and identification.

The articulated vehicle was driven by Abdul Fataw, who is 37years and his two drivers’ mates who have also sustained various degree of injuries. There were taken to the Obregyimah Presbyterian Health Centre for treatment.

Sergeant Francis Gomado, the Acting Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command has confirmed the accident .
He added that both vehicles were being towed away from the road while further investigation continue.
