The safety of the people is our major priority – Mr. Derek Boateng


Newmont  Ghana Women and Allies Network is a business resource group that empowers women within Newmont and it’s communities by providing them with opportunity through education and advocacy.

As part of their encouragement, they donated some PPE’s and sanitary supplies to some schools in New Abirem in the Eastern Region. Among  these items were some nose masks, tissues, hand washing liquid soaps and Veronica buckets. Mananso Presby School, Ntronang Presby School and Afosu D/A School are the three beneficiaries of these donation.

Mrs. Rosemond Antwi, the Birim North District Director of Education, expressed her gratitude to the Allies Network for their support. She added that the items will play a significant role in observing the safety protocols.

Mr. Derek Boateng, the Senior Manager, Sustainability and External Relations at the Akyem mines, said the health and safety of the people is their major priority. He concluded that the Newmont is committed to support the various schools, local government, health institutions and other stakeholders by directly addressing the health challenges the area.
