Residents of Winneba in the Effutu Constituency have declared their full support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the December 7 elections. At an Economic Symposium organized by ABC News on Monday, September 16, 2024, locals expressed enthusiasm for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and their MP, Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
Many residents praised the government’s development initiatives, including improvements in roads, healthcare, education, and railways, which they believe far exceed those of the previous administration. A young woman at the event reaffirmed, “We are resolute in our decision to vote for Dr. Bawumia and Honourable Afenyo-Markin massively.”

Free Senior High School (Free SHS) was a major focus, with several attendees voicing concerns that John Mahama would reverse the policy if elected. Isaac Bondzie, a participant, emphasized, “We shall vote for Bawumia to save Free SHS.”
Others called for transparency regarding Free SHS expenses, suggesting that the Ministry of Education print bills to show parents how much the government is spending on their children’s education. Despite this, they remain appreciative of the program’s impact on their community.
The Winneba residents’ overwhelming support indicates a strong backing for the NPP as the elections approach.
