Woman apprehended for allegedly setting shops on fire


The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested a woman, Ramatu Sard for allegedly setting a shop on fire at Accra New Town near the timber market on Sunday 17th January 2021.

Ramatau sard, the alleged culprit was caught on a close circuit camera(CCTV) setting  the shop which contains items close to Thousands of Ghana Cedis ablaze

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Accra Regional Police Command, DSP Effia Tenge disclosed that, on January 17, 2021, at about 8:10 am the plaintiff and others brought the suspect to the police station on the account that the suspect around 3:00 am on the same date set his boutique at Accra New town on fire.

According to DSP Tenge, the police carried on to the crime scene at Accra New town near the timber market where a shop on a story building was pointed out to police as the crime scene.

She said upon assessment of the scene, it revealed that the inside of the boutique was set ablaze and bags, clothing, footwear, jewelry, and many others were burnt.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tenge said CCTV footage captured Ramatu as the suspect and she was arrested.

Meanwhile, the alleged culprit  Ramatu is assisting police in the investigation.
