Lawyer Frank Davies who is a member of President Akufo Addo’s legal team was brought to his knees at the Supreme Court when the Chief Justice called him out for reprobation.
The Judges had expressed disgust in the manner in which the seasoned lawyer has been addressing the media in issues relating to the election petition.
Lawyer Frank Davies had earlier courted Public disaffection when he was seen with military personnel carrying his files to the courtroom.
The Chief Justice noted that the court was uncomfortable with the post-trial interview frequently granted to the media by Lawyer Frank Davies.
Lawyer Frank Davies who is a former Chairman of the Greater Accra Chapter of the Ghana Bar Association is always seen being the first to address the media immediately court proceedings are over.
The National Democratic Congress also on numerous occasions complained about the manner in which Mr. Davies engages the media on issues earlier discussed in court.
The Chief Justice in a direct response drew his attention to the ethical infractions being occasioned by his interviews in the media.
“I wish to draw your attention to the rule governing media interviews by legal representatives in an ongoing case”.he retorted
The Chief Justice then referred to rule 38 of the legal and professional conduct and ethical truth which states that a lawyer who is practicing or has participated in litigation in court does not have the liberty to be granting interviews to the media outside the court proceedings.
